Skinfood Review

Skinfood is a very popular Korean skincare brand. Their stores can be found all over Asia. But like always, I had to purchase them from ebay because Skinfood is not currently available in the USA. I got the Peach Sake Toner, Black Raspberry Su Serum, Aloe Sun Essence, and Aloe Sun BB Cream.

The Skinfood promise: "Special food for the skin to eat. Contains lots of nutritive and energetic ingredients such as fresh plants, fruits and etc. to maintain our bodies healthy and lively.

Peach Sake Toner (135 mL)


Manufacturer's Claims: "Fresh toner with 'sake' traditional Japanese wine brewed with rigidly selected rice, and 'peach' extracts rich in vitamin A and C to remove greasiness due to enlarged pores and excessive sebum."

Direction: After cleansing, apply directly or with a cotton pad to entire face. Gently pat to absorb.

My thoughts: This toner is a clear liquid. Has a light peach scent that is very pleasant to wake you up in the morning. Does not burn like other toners I've tried. Dries quickly without any stickiness. After using this toner for almost 2 months, there is no decrease in the size of my pores.

Will I repurchase? No. Smells very nice but there is no improvement in pore size or oil control.

Black Raspberry Su Serum (45 mL)

Manufacturer's Claims: "Containing rubus coreanus miquel extract, which was used to take care of coarse and dry skin in the old days, and sap from twelve herbal plants, this serum hydrates the skin's deep layers."

Direction: Apply evenly on your face after applying toner and press gently to absorb.

My Thoughts: Clear gel consistancy. Light herbal smell, a bit like your lawn after a rainy day. The smell is fresh, to me anyways, and disappears after you put it on. Dries quickly without any stickiness. A little goes a long way. This is an anti-aging serum to be used after toner and before moisturizer. When using this serum, I did noticed that I don't have to use as much moisturizer like I use to. I have combination skin and no longer have to use extra moisturizer on my dry areas.

Will I repurchase? Yes.

Aloe Sun Essence SPF 27 PA ++ (50 mL)


Manufacturer's Claims: "A waterproof sun block essence that has a sun protection factor high enough to use safely for all four seasons. Rich in extracts of aloe and green tea, which has the powerful ability to soothe the skin. It protects your skin from irritation caused by UV rays and gives nutrition to make your skin healthy. "

Directions: Apply small portion on face, neck arms and legs that are vulnerable to exposure to the ultraviolet rays. Avoid applying near the eyes.

Naked Skin

Absorbed clear without any white streaks

My Thoughts: Finally a sun screen I am not allergic to! I am such a freak, anything that I've come across with SPF in it will give me nasty hives. I did find one other sun screen that I didn't have a reaction to, but it left a white residue. This "Sun Essence" is very light creamy cream that absorbs fast without any white residue or sticky feeling. It has a soft, floral scent. Love this because it protects you from UVA and B.

Will I repurchase? Yes

Aloe Sun BB Cream SPF 20 PA+ (50g) in shade #2

Manufacturer's Claims: "Rich with Aloe, which possesses excellent hydrating properties and soothing effect, this multi-functional skin care product (UV protector & blemish corrector) provides moisture and nutrition to your skin while providing protection from UV rays. This cream leaves skin feeling moisturized while it corrects skin tone for a naturally air-brushed complexion."

Instruction: Apply as a foundation or as a base before your foundation.

Blends nicely into my skin. Skin looks brighter and more even.

My Thoughts: First of all, let me just say that BB creams are made primarily for Asian consumers. Most BB creams comes only in light or very light. Skin Food Aloe BB cream only comes in shade #1 and a darker shade #2. I got mine in #2 and then just add a bit of my other liquid foundation to make it darker to match my skin tone. In the picture, I did not mix in any darker foundation. I used it straight out of the tube onto my forearm. This cream has a nice, light floral scent that dissapears after application. It blends nicely leaving a beautiful matte finish. I wear it to work and it lasted the entire 12 hour shift without any fading. I just use blotting tissue during my lunch break and it's good as new.

Will I repurchase? Yes

Lush Mask Review

LUSH is a company that makes skincare and cosmetic products. They started off in Canada and have recently been gaining more popularity here in the US. Their products can be found online or at their many stores spread out through the US. Their products are fresh, handmade, and does not contain any harmful chemicals or preservatives. Because of this, their fresh masks can only be purchased from their stores because they need to be kept refrigerated. Some of their soaps, bath bombs, and shower emotibombs are very expensive a bit unnecessary. Like, why would I want to spend $4 per shower just to make it smell nice? So that's why I was more interested in their skincare products. My skin concerns are oil and breakout controls, smoother, brighter skin. So I tired Cupcake, Brazened Honey, and Mask of Magnaminty fresh face masks. I also received their Hair Doctor hair mask as a free gift for making a purchase of $50 or more.

Cupcake Fresh Face Mask

Manufacturer's Claim: Chocolate heaven for oily and teenage skin. Its action removes excess oil and calms breakouts. Rhassoul mud cleans and soothes, cocoa butter, linseed and cocoa powder soften the skin. Balancing peppermint, spearmint and sandalwood oils complete this effective and delicious experience.

Instruction: Apply to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave for five to ten minutes, then rinse away with warm water. Keep chilled.

Shelf Life: 3 weeks

My thoughts: This mask was so much fun to apply. Like smearing cold brownie batter all over your face. Smells like chocolate. But unfortunately, that is where the fun ends. After washing off the mask, my face felt the same. Had to use my facial cleanser after to get rid of a little bit of a film left behind. It was very messy too! My sink was covered in muddy water! After using this mask for 2 weeks, there was no decrease in my sebum production, no decrease in breakout.

Will I repurchase? No

Brazened Honey Fresh Face Mask

Manufacturer's Claim: A powerhouse of effective ingredients for all tired skins, exfoliating, stimulating, and nourishing. Refreshing herbs and fruit juice are blended with warming Ayurvedic herbs and spices. With ground almonds to polish and moisturizing honey, this blend leaves the skin vibrant and revitalized.

Instruction: Apply to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave for five to ten minutes, then rinse with warm water massaging gently. Keep chilled.

Shelf Life: 3 weeks

My thoughts: Smells like honey, very nice and relaxing. It did feel a slight burning/stinging sensation on my nose, cheeks, and forehead. The feeling was uncomfortable for a couple of minutes but then disappeared. Maybe it was due to my enlarged pores to those area? Dunno. It happened every time I use this mask. The ground almond particles did a great job at exfoliating my skin. It wasn't too harsh or irritating. It leave a great clean feeling. After 2 weeks my face was very smooth and soft. This mask does contain fresh lime juice (which is an acid that can burn your face off... haha ok, not that drastic, but you know what I mean), should avoid if you have extremely sensitive skin.

Will I repurchase? Yes

Mask of Magnaminty Face Pack

Manufacturer's Claim: The big green giant of a face and back pack. Deeply cleansing, toning, and exfoliating pepperminty mask. Refreshes and brightens all it touches.

Instruction: Apply, allow drying, removing with water in circular movements. (Does not need refrigeration)

Shelf Life: 4 months

My Thoughts: Similar to any clay mask, this pack does dry up and pull the oil out of your pores. It has a great minty smell and cool tingling feel that last the entire time until it dries up. It also contains ground up Aduki beans that helps gently exfoliate the skin during the washing off process. The particles are large and not too harsh on sensitive skin. After a month use, I am addicted. My skin is so soft and did noticed a increased in healing time for my occasional blemishes. This pack can also be used on your chest or back breakouts as well.

Will I repurchase? YES YES YES!

Hair Doctor Hair Mask

Manufacturer's Claim: Pre-wash scalp and hair conditioner. Sort out troublesome scalps. gets rid of flakiness with pure essential oils and naturally moisturizing plant butters.

Instruction: Plaster it all over your scalp and hair, massage in and wait for 20 minutes while it works its herbal magic. Use 1/4 pot for short hair, 1 whole pot for long hair, 1/2 pot for in between. Keep chilled.

Shelf Life: 3 weeks

My Thoughts: It smells like herbs, would prefer a more floral or fruity smell. The product is very thick and extremely difficult to apply. This is suppose to go on while your hair is dry. I have long hair, thin strands but lots of it. Had to take very small section at a time to thoroughly distribute the product. It took forever! My arms were tired at the end of application. It did have a cool and tingling sensation on my scalp, very nice. After 20 minutes I couldn't wait to jump into the shower to wash it off. I hate the feeling of having stuff caked on my hair. After shampoo and conditioner I finally felt better and clean. To my surprise, my hair was so soft and silky smooth! The herb smell did lingered though, ugh!

Will I repurchase? No, well, maybe if I had short hair. Even though it left my hair feeling so great, it was just too difficult to apply to long hair. The herb smell didn't sit well with me either.

Outfit of the Day

A simple outfit for a late night dinner with friends. I love asymmetrical tops. They look very weird on the rack at the store, but try them out! This top would've been perfect with a pair of shorts and simple black pumps. But that night was very cold so I went for a pair of skinny jeans and ankle boots instead.

Geo Circle Lens

Circle lens are colored contact lenses that help make your eyes look larger. They are extremely popular in Korea and Japan. The diameter of the lens are larger than the regular colored contact lens found here in the US. This allows the iris to appear larger and soooo cute! Unfortunately, circle lenses have not been approved by the FDA. If you want them, you'll have search the web for distributors that buy them from manufacturer in Asia. Geo is one of the most popular brand. Only some of their styles come in prescription. If I wasn't so blind I would own so much more. Here are 6 different styles/color that I own ... for now ;)

My eyes look a bit red because after putting in and taking out pair after pair of contacts, they got a bit irritated. The larger lenses did feel a bit weird in the beginning but I got used to it. I love them all! I change the style depending what I was doing and wearing.

My Beauty Diary Sheet Mask

Just got these last week in the mail! So excited to go through them all! Hopefully I won't end up with a crazy allergic reaction. I have super sensitive skin. Anywho, My Beauty Diary is another Korean skin care brand. I got mine from ebay. My main skin concerns are oil control, pore minimizing, and detoxifying. I decided to purchase 2 of each of the following: Yogurt Mask, Q10 Rejuvenating Mask, Red Wine Mask, Sake Yeast Mask, and Apple Polyphenol Mask.I will be using one every other day. So at least 20 more days until I will start putting together a post for them all.

The Face Shop Mask Sheet

Sheet masks are cloth masks that are infused with different skin beneficial serums. Sheet masks are very popular in Asian countries. Here in the US, we are more used to wash off masks. Wash off masks have their own useful benefits, but at the end of the treatment, you'll have to wash it off. With sheet masks, at the end of the application, the sheet is peeled off and the remaining serum is left on the face to absorb into your skin. Sheet masks are not commonly sold here in the US. The Face Shop is a Korean skin care brand that can be found at your local Wallgreens! Below I will review the 6 different types of The Face Shop sheet masks sold at Wallgreens.

Fresh Fruit Aloe Mask Sheet



Manufacturer Description: Aloe soothes and hydrates sensitive skin without irritation. Made from all natural pulp for the gentle delivery of Aloe extract, this refreshing juice-like mask sheet comforts and revitalizes skin.

Direction: 1)Wash face and apply toner. Remove mask sheet from package and unfold. 2)Carefully fit mask over face. 3)Remove mask sheet after 15-20 minutes. Gently pat any remaining formula into skin.

My Thoughts: It has a light fresh clean scent. Can't really identify what it is, but very nice. The serum is very watery. Easy to apply to my face. It drips a lot down my neck. After 15 minutes, I removed the mask and allowed the serum to absorb into my skin. Left my skin a bit sticky. Went to bed. When I woke up in the morning, my skin was a bit smoother and very moisturized.

Would I repurchase? No, too runny

Fresh Fruit Lemon Mask Sheet



Manufacturer Description: Known for fighting fatigue as well as for their skincare benefits, vitamin-rich Lemons hydrate and improve skin tone. Made with all natural pulp for the gentle delivery of Lemon extract, this refreshing juice-mask sheet hydrates skin.

My Thoughts: Smells like lemon dish washing liquid. Fits well. Formula is very watery. Had to remove the mask after 15 minutes not 20 because it started to dry up on my forehead. But you have to take into consideration that it was a cold night and I had my heater on. It left my skin slightly sticky. Went to bed. Woke up with slightly softer and brighter skin.

Would I repurchase? No, didn't like the smell, too runny

Fresh Fruit Pomegranate Mask Sheet

My Thoughts: Very soft sweet smell, like pomegranate juice. Formula is very watery. Fit well onto my face. Removed after 15 minutes and pat remaining serum into my skin. Left skin slightly sticky. Went to bed. Woke up with slightly softer skin.

Would I repurchase: No, not much of a difference in skin appearance.

Pearl Essential Mask Sheet



Manufacturer Description: Pearl is a rare, precious stone rich in calcium which helps illuminate, clarify and hydrate lackluster skin. The concentrations of Pearl in this gentle mask sheet are effectively absorbed to clarify and refine skin.

Direction: 1)Wash face and apply toner. Remove mask sheet from package and unfold. 2)Carefully fit mask over face. 3)Remove mask sheet after 15-20 minutes. Gently pat any remaining formula into skin.

My Thoughts: Smells so good! Like a soft floral perfume scent. Fits well onto my face. Formula is not as watery as the fresh fruit masks. Removed after 20 minutes. Attempted to pat the remaining serum so it can dry but it was very sticky. Went to bed with a sticky face. Woke up and WOW! My face was extremely smooth, soft, and bight.

Would I repurchase? YES, very lovely smell and noticeable improvement of skin appearance and feel.

Collagen Essential Mask Sheet

My Thoughts: Very faint floral perfume smell. Fits well. Very watery formula. Removed after 20 minutes and pat the remaining serum into my skin. Slightly sticky feel. Went to bed. Woke up with soft moisturized face.

Would I repurchase? No, this one didn't have anything that makes it unique.

Ceramide Essential Mask Sheet



Manufacturer Description: Hydrates promotes elasticity Formulated with Ceramide one of the major Natural Moisturizing Factors that exist in our skin this mask sheet hydrates and promotes elasticity.

My Thoughts: Same as the collagen mask mentioned above. Just average.

Would I repurchase? Nope
